Welcome to the Apocalypse Z! Dawn of the Red is coming!
While up in Eugene, OR last summer playing the annual Whiteaker Block Party, the homey James Book let the whole band crash with he and his beautiful family. We popped up in the morning and they took us out to breakfast. We started chatting about fun, new ways to work together and James mentioned the concept of doing a completely customized track along with other amazing artists for a possible album release. Pairing craft beer with completely new crafted music sounded dope and thus the, “Dawn of the Red Compilation EP" was spawned
We linked up with Kraddy out of Los Angeles about some beat ideas. He sent over a few concepts and we went to work. The content was a no-brainier! We got write about about a zombie apocalypse from both perspectives. First, Burkey took the angle of the human, escaping Socal zombie infestation to head north with he and his family and nothing but the items on his back to his transformation into a zombie. I then take over staying true to the nature of most Z-flicks with a bit of a comical twist into his newly acquired hunger for human meat and specific palate and menu options for he and his new Z krew. Enjoy!

Show Up feat. Siya - Vokab Kompany x Knight Riderz
Bed Stuy, Brooklyn bred MC Siya dropped a dot on our radar about a year ago thanks to our QUITSleep fambam and bff Dom, aka ‘Grimey Management’ (representing Sac hiphop/rock fusion group 'Iconoclast Robots’). He connected us to Siya through his good bro Kael Ramsey-Ackerson, and his team at EGE Management. And so off we sent a handful of beats and upon her hearing Knight Riderz’ big EDM and booty-bass style, she fired back lyrically, and with vigor.
The 12 bar explosion she returned triggered a ton of ideas between us and Knight Riderz leading to beat revamps, a few rearrangements and re-executed vocals. The more we worked on it, the more the “Show Up” theme seemed to permeate both with in the beat and lyrical content.
Siya’s ending line in the track goes something like, “I got everybody waiting like when is she gonna blow up. And I just pray that everybody show up”! This hits home as each of us continue to navigate our way through the peaks and valleys that encompass this bipolar roller-coaster that is, “the music industry”, in the hopes that we can someday reach that metaphorical “blow up” stage and continue to detonate.
Siya is starring in the reality T.V. show “Sisterhood of Hip Hop”, produced by T.I., which debuts on the Oxygen Channel in August. We believe her time to BLOW UP is now. We hope this track encompasses the tension and subsequent release of said explosion. Find out more- damnsiya.com/
Knight Riderz is a Canadian-born and based producer with a dope hip-hop, edm and glitch-hop styles he incorporates into his engineering while continuing to only play 100% original music, at his live sets. Find out more- @Knight-Riderz
It’s here! V-Sides Vol. 1 (Kollabs and Remixes) with 4 brand spankin’ new tracks on here, unheard by any ear along with some of our favorite remixes and artist kollabs we’ve created.
This past summer, our good friend Stephan Jacobs came to visit us after he spent a few months cross country performing at The Vans Warped Tour….and he came bearing gifts. Gifts in the form of the giant sound bank that exists in his bass inflicted mind. We settled into our main man Jaywat Production’s studio, and built this track from the ground up in a few short hours. As usual when working with Stephan, it was an effortless and truly collaborative experience in which we continued to grow our sound. This is the first of the soon-to-be-released tracks we will be uploading from our upcoming ablum; Vsides Vol. 1- Kollabs and Remixes-

I was teaching a 10th grade American Lit class last spring for the better part of 3 months. As part of an assignment we were watching “Dead Poets Society.” The assignment I gave the class was to pick a quote from the movie, and relate to it.
The chorus of this song was my attempt at the assignment I gave them. The concept of the chorus thus belongs to Henry David Thoreau: “I wanted to live deep, and suck the marrow out of life.”
I brought the chorus concept to Rob and we began to formulate the track. The lyrics describe the obstacles of the glitter and the flash often presented in life and not becoming enthralled in it as you gain momentum and periods of success. Hence the title, “Watch the Glitter.” We invited our good friend Keng Doja to be introduced to our fans and friends on this track and he brought it to life with his unique melodies and lyrics with subtle hints of one of our favorites, John Legend . Vokab Kompany keyboardist, and all around control room engineer, Geoff Nigl uses guitar, keys and several other production stems. He also arranged and engineered the track (“Wake Up” / “Unpredictable” off Quit Sleep). Original beat production by Aplus909 of the Marlion Group (“Know Me Now” & “Bright light” off Quit Sleep).
The video montage for this song was collected on tour over the past year, ranging from San Diego to The Bay to Portland, Seattle and around that great Northwest. Vocal engineering and mixing by JayWat Production. Additional vocal engineering by Mr. Juse.
Executive produced by Vokab Kompany and Tait Henricksen. - VK
